Craig Hume - MD @ Utopia
At Utopia, we understand that one of the keys to success is building a team of dedicated and passionate individuals who share a common vision. Get this right, and the results are genuinely remarkable.
This is especially true when it comes to delivering excellent customer service. I am proud to say that our commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect among our team members has led to our recognition as the best PC builder in the UK, more than any other company, as well as countless happy and returning customers!
This week, I started reading a fantastic book that further reinforced Utopia's belief in delivering the best. The book details many of the same ideas and practices that we already have in place at Utopia, and it was reassuring to know that the team are on the right track. I've shared details of the book below...
In the meantime, I'm excited to continue delivering what we like to call "an unbelievably awesome service" to every single customer.
🤖 Tech Highlight of the Week
Volvo EX90- I have always been a fan of Volvo. I remember completing an engineering project on how Volvo pioneered the airbag in when I was in Secondary School. Since then, I've always had a soft spot for the Swedish brand. The brand's ability to seamlessly blend design, functionality, and practicality has always drawn me. With the recent launch of their first-ever 7-seater electric vehicle, I was excited to learn more. One of the most innovative features of this car is its ability to power your home. After an upcoming software update, the car's battery can be used to power your entire house. This got me thinking about the possibilities in my own home, especially here in Scotland, where there is still a lot of free car charging available. Will this feature enable the car to start paying for itself? Or will it lead to the end of free charging? Only time will tell!

📖 From My Bookshelf This Week
Unreasonable Hospitality - Will Guidara - New York’s Eleven Madison Park first appeared in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2010 and climbed the list to be ranked No.1 in 2017. As co-owner, Will Guidara was a key architect of the restaurant’s extraordinary success, built on a radically different approach to looking after its guests. In his book, he links the concept of embedding ideas and insights for how to do this in the compelling narrative of his pursuit of not just excellence but of a generational shift in what it means to be cared for during an evening out, along with how his ideas transcend hospitality and can be used in any industry to disrupt and become the best.
💬 Quote of the week
"Intention means every decision, from the most obviously significant to the seemingly mundane, matters. To do something with intentionality means to do it thoughtfully, with clear purpose and an eye on the desired result"
