Not really no. The two game's are set in the same universe but have different stories. However if you play Sons before The Forest, you will miss some easter eggs and not know who a couple of the characters are. While these aren't important details, you may miss some context and the apprecation on how the sequal has improved the game over the first game. The Forest itself is a great game too and follows a similar gameplay loop. We highly recommend it so give it a go!

Yes! It was finished and released on February 22,2024. With the release, Endnight Games added much more content to the game that what we had previously seen in the early access version. This involves some new voice acting, addiontal crafting content, more places to explore and the final mysterious artifact piece, aptly named "???".
