Do you like football? Do you also happen to like cars? Then you will love Rocket League, the game that combines both in a fast-paced and thrilling experience. Rocket League is a game where you can drive rocket-powered cars and score goals in various arenas. You can play solo or with friends, customize your cars, and join tournaments. Rocket League is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Released in 2015, Rocket League launched itself into the record books by being downloaded over 6 million times in its first month! It still is played by millions of people every day and sees cars race around a football pitch-esk arena chasing a massive ball in an attempt to score goals against opponents using a combo of physics-defying maneuvers and player skill. The game had some near-own goals at the beginning, almost being called Soccar…getit? It was also a sequel to the amazingly titled, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars! Again, well done to the developers for choosing Rocket League as the final name, I think we can all agree it was for the best.

Frequently Asked Questions for Rocket League?
You might enjoy Rocket League if you are a fan of arcade-style soccer, fast-paced action, and creative vehicles. You might not enjoy it if you prefer more realistic sports simulations, slower-paced games, or simple graphics. The best way to find out is to try it yourself and see if it suits you. It's a gas!
You can play on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox or on PC via the Epic Game Store.
OS: Windows 10 Processor: 2.5GHz Dual Core CPU Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 270X, NVIDIA GTX 760 Storage: 20GB Available Space
OS: Windows 10/11 Processor: 3.0GHz+ Quad Core CPU Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 470, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Storage: 20GB Avaliable Space
The single-core performance of the CPU is an important consideration since most of the tasks and processes in Rocket League are single-core dependent. So with Rocket League look to your CPU’s frequency rating and choose something that runs at 2.4GHz or higher. As I said, requirements do vary depending on how you want to play the game.
60 FPS CPU: With that in mind AMD 5600G with its VEGA integrated graphics will give a great playable experience without burning a hole in his wallet.. If you are building a Rocket League PC for your kids or just a casual PC for light Rocket League sessions, then 5600G has you covered for 60FPs 1080p gaming.
144 FPS CPU: However, for a more capable Rocket League PC that will satisfy the needs of both casual and competitive players, go for at least the latest-gen Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5. These will help keep frame rates higher, but will also need an additional graphics card in order to play Rocket League at 144fps or beyond HD resolution (more on GPUs below).
240 FPS & Steaming CPU: If you feel like pushing the budget check out the latest generation CPUs, i.e. Intel Core i7 and the AMD Ryzen 7 CPUs- These chips are ideal for modern gaming PCs as they have enough power to be able to play all games currently on the market. However, they are more expensive and feature more cores and threads that you may need. These additional cores and threads will come in handy if you plan to stream or want to have background applications running at the same time as your epic Rocket League sessions. They are also recommended if you are considering running games at 240FPS.
According to the official Rocket League requirements, the minimum recommended GPU is the Nvidia GTX 760/AMD Radeon R9 270X whereas the recommended GPU is the Nvidia GTX 1060. All these cards are older, so if buying a new system you will struggle to find them listed. As I shared with my CPU recommendations, I’ll share three options, one for 60FPS, one for 144FPS and one for 240FPS
60 FPS GPU: Integrated GPU is all you need here, if you opted for a 5600G CPU or above you will have enough power to play at 60FPS. If you plan on turning on some glossy graphics features, then perhaps go with a discrete GPU.
144 FPS GPU: As we move up to 144FPS then any of Nvidia or AMD's mid to low range cards will provide a great car-football experience.
240 FPS GPU: 240 FPS is now our target, I would suggest an Nvidia RTX 3060 or equivalent, this is going to be more than up for the job and will have the added benefit of having enough oomph to help keep streams moving smoothly too!
As far as the RAM goes, the minimum and the maximum requirements for Rocket League range from 4 GB DDR4 to 8 GB DDR4.
These days, 8GB is the minimum I’d ever recommend. While you might get it working on 4GB, 8GB is needed for modern versions of Windows, and the cost of RAM is a relatively small part of your total system cost.
If you are planning on playing at higher frame rates or would like to stream, then go for 16GB. You can stream Rocket League with 8GB, but having the extra RAM will ensure an excellent stable experience.
Our recommendation is to always go with an SSD. SSDs are up to 10x faster than a hard drive, and while once in your game, it won’t make all that much difference, loading into Windows and loading your game itself will be much better with an SSD. SSDs are also cheap as chips and arguably more reliable than HDDs.
Rocket League only takes around 20GB of space, so any sized SSD will do, so if you building on a budget, go with a 240GB SSD. 500GB is the sweet spot, and 1TB and above it for those who want to install lots of other games, as well as applications for video editing etc.
It’s worth saying that a HDD is a great value way of extending your storage cheaply. With 1TB of storage being available for under £50 at the time of writing. This gives you stacks of space to install games you don’t play that often, as well as holding recordings of your gaming sessions, photos and other things you may want to keep, but that access speed is not so important.
Remember that your monitor is critical to your setup if you want to play beyond 60FPS. The refresh rate of your monitor needs to meet or exceed the desired FPS. The easy way to think of this is for 144FPS needs a 144Hz or above monitor. I’ve seen many gamers invest in a great setup only to never see the benefits due to the hardware limitations of their monitor.
As you can hopefully see, Rocket League is a great value game that can run on a whole host of different computer configurations, bringing fast-paced action to the masses and the team at Utopia love it! Hopefully, this guide answered all your questions, but if you have any more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
